Scripps ( SSP ) has signed a multi-year media rights agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning to produce and distribute all pre-season, regular season and first-round playoff games of the ice hockey team that are not allocated exclusively to national broadcasts.

The company said Wednesday it will launch a local station, WXPX-TV, for the Tampa-St. Petersburg area to broadcast the Lightning games. The station will be branded The Spot - Tampa Bay 66 and will launch locally on July 1.

The company and the team will also launch a livestreaming service for the games.
