07:40 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- EchoStar ( SATS ) has sent a termination for convenience notification to MDA Space related to the $1.3 billion constellation contract announced on Aug. 1, the latter said Monday.

The contract termination is the result of a sudden change to EchoStar's ( SATS ) business strategy and plan in the wake of spectrum allocation discussions with the Federal Communications Commission in the US.

MDA Space said it will be compensated for all related termination costs and fees.

EchoStar ( SATS ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
