11:20 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ecopetrol said it entered into a confidentiality agreement with Canadian gas producer Canacol Energy ( CNNEF ) in late August, following reports in national media.

The company said the agreement allows for the exchange of information between the parties under legal safeguards in line with market practices.

"This confidentiality agreement does not, under any circumstances, create binding obligations for either party, nor does it commit Ecopetrol to undertake any subsequent actions, procedures, or engagements related to the Company's operations," said Ecopetrol in a statement.

Shares of Canacol Energy ( CNNEF ) were last seen down 1.8% at $2.75 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
