01:44 PM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Edison International ( EIX ) unit Southern California Edison and Lotus Infrastructure Partners said Tuesday they were selected by California Independent System Operator to develop and maintain new transmission infrastructure for delivering renewable energy to Southern California.
This infrastructure is expected to transport energy from renewable sources, including large-scale solar, wind, and battery installations, to Southern California.
The companies will build a high-voltage transmission line from Serrano Substation to a substation near the retired San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, using existing rights of way.
Lotus will lead the project's development, and once completed and approved, Southern California Edison will buy the project and lease 25% of the transmission capacity to Lotus, the companies said.
