e.l.f. Beauty Stock Sinks After Q3 Results, Lower FY25 Guidance Below Estimates
Feb 6, 2025 2:03 PM

e.l.f. Beauty, Inc. reported its third-quarter financial results after Thursday's closing bell. Here's a look at the key figures from the quarter.

The Details: e.l.f. Beauty reported quarterly earnings of 74 cents per share, which met the analyst consensus estimate and is unchanged from the same period last year. Quarterly revenue came in at $355.32 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $329.67 million and is an increase over sales of $270.94 million from the same period last year.

e.l.f. Beauty reported its net sales increased 31% to $355.3 million, primarily driven by strength in both its retailer and e-commerce channels, in the U.S. and internationally.

Gross margin increased approximately 40 basis points to 71%, primarily driven by favorable foreign exchange impacts on goods purchased from China, cost savings and inventory adjustments, partially offset by mix and higher transportation costs.

“I’m proud of the e.l.f. Beauty team for delivering another quarter of consistent, category-leading growth. In the third quarter, we grew net sales 31% and gained 220 basis points of market share in the U.S.,” said Tarang Amin, e.l.f. Beauty’s chairman and CEO.

“We believe we are still in the early innings of unlocking the whitespace we see across digital, color cosmetics, skin care and international,” Amin added.

Outlook: e.l.f. Beauty now sees fiscal 2025 earnings of between $3.27 and $3.32, versus the $3.54 estimate, and revenue in a range of $1.3 billion to $1.31 billion, versus the $1.33 billion estimate.

“Given softer-than-expected trends in January, we are taking a prudent approach and lowering our outlook for the final quarter of our fiscal year. Our updated outlook for fiscal 2025 reflects an expected 27-28% year-over-year increase in net sales, as compared to an expected 28%-30% increase previously,” said Mandy Fields, e.l.f. Beauty’s CFO.

ELF Price Action: According to data from Benzinga Pro, e.l.f. Beauty shares are down 21.12% after hours at $69.80 Thursday.
