Aug 19, 2024 3:08 PM

05:54 PM EDT, 08/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Emergent Biosolutions ( EBS ) said late Monday it is working proactively with the World Health Organization and the US government to address the current mpox outbreak across Central Africa.

The company said it will donate 50,000 doses of its ACAM2000 vaccine against smallpox disease through Direct Relief, a humanitarian relief organization, to help control the epidemic.

Emergent said it submitted in October last year a supplemental biologics license application with the US Food and Drug Administration seeking an expanded indication for ACAM2000 to include immunization against the mpox virus.
