Enbridge, EDF Renewables Solar Plant in Ohio Now Operational
Jan 6, 2025 9:43 AM

12:21 PM EST, 01/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Enbridge ( ENB ) said late Monday morning that the Fox Squirrel Solar project in central Ohio, developed and owned in partnership with EDF Renewables North America, achieved full operational status last month.

The project is now supplying electricity to the PJM regional grid, which serves a dozen US states in the Midwest and mid-Atlantic Coast. EDF Renewables North America is a subsidiary of EDF Renewables, the dedicated renewable energy affiliate of the EDF Group.

The ground-mounted Fox Squirrel solar facility, with roughly 1.4 million photovoltaic panels and 159 inverters, has a maximum capacity of 577 megawatts AC and 749 megawatts DC, making it one of the largest utility-scale solar developments east of the Mississippi River.

All electricity produced by the Fox Squirrel facility is being purchased by Amazon.com ( AMZN ) , as part of its effort to power its data centers and other operations with low-carbon energy sources.
