SIPRI in its latest report said that military spending in Europe and Russia surged due to Russia-Ukraine war despite slow economic growth. Russia lifted its military outlays by 2.9 percent to 4.1 percent of GDP, or $65.9 billion in 2021 to built up its forces along the Ukrainian border, the report added.
