Enterprise Products Partners Faces Potential Denial of Ethane Cargoes to China
Jun 4, 2025 9:56 AM

12:37 PM EDT, 06/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Enterprise Products Partners ( EPD ) said Wednesday it received notice from the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security on June 3 of its intent to deny emergency authorization requests for three proposed ethane cargoes to China totaling about 2.2 million barrels.

The company has 20 days to submit comments or rebuttals, and unless BIS notifies Enterprise otherwise by the 45th day, the denials will become final without further notice.

The notice follows a May 23 directive from BIS, which introduced new licensing requirements for exports of saturated ethane and butane with a purity of 95% or more by volume to China. The requirement was effective immediately, though BIS later withdrew the rule for butane, according to the company.

Shares of Enterprise Products Partners ( EPD ) were down 1.4% in recent trading.
