Epic Games Accuses Google, Samsung of Conspiring to Block Rival Apps
Oct 2, 2024 11:25 PM

08:17 AM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) and Samsung have conspired to insulate Google's ( GOOG ) Play Store from competition, Epic Games said in a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

"For years, through a web of anticompetitive agreements and technical impediments and frictions, Google ( GOOG ) has maintained an illegal monopoly over the distribution of Android apps," Epic Games said in its complaint. "Samsung -- the world's largest Android smartphone maker -- is one of the only firms with the potential ability to challenge Google's ( GOOG ) dominance in app distribution. But for years, Samsung has declined to compete or allow others to compete with Google ( GOOG ) for distribution of Android apps on Samsung smartphones."

Neither Google ( GOOG ) nor Samsung immediately replied to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
