12:10 PM EDT, 03/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Equinor ( EQNR ) subsidiary Rio Energy acquired the ready-to-build 230-megawatt Esquina do Vento onshore wind complex in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, from Vestas Wind Systems.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The complex, which will use 51 Vestas V163 turbines and has potential annual generation of 1 terawatt-hour, is expected to deliver double-digit project returns, Equinor ( EQNR ) said.
Construction at the site is slated to start in Q2, with commercial operations planned for 2028. Vestas will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the wind turbines, Equinor ( EQNR ) said.
