Analysts polled by FactSet expected $0.30.
Operating revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $514.9 million, up from $434.4 million a year earlier.
Two analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $469.8 million.
For 2025, the company expects GAAP EPS to exceed its $2.07-$2.11 guidance range due to non-recurring benefits. Four analysts expect $2.10.
The company said it raised its quarterly dividend to $0.3426 per share, payable Sept. 2 to shareholders of record as of Aug. 12.
Shares of Essential Utilities ( WTRG ) were up 1.2% in after-hours trading.
