EU Commission Opens Public Consultation on Tariffs Targeting $107 Billion of US Goods
May 26, 2025 4:04 AM

08:21 AM EDT, 05/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Union's European Commission has launched a public consultation regarding a list of US imports that might become subject to EU countermeasures if ongoing US-EU trade negotiations fail to produce satisfactory results, the Commission said Thursday.

The list includes a broad range of industrial and agricultural products from the US worth 95 billion euros ($107.33 billion), the Commission said, adding that is also consulting on potential restrictions on certain EU exports of steel scrap and chemical products to the US worth 4.4 billion euros.

The Commission said the EU will also launch a World Trade Organization dispute against the US on its "reciprocal" tariffs and its tariffs on cars and car parts.
