July 17 (Reuters) - The European Union's latest

sanctions targeting Russia's liquefied natural gas (LNG)

industry are illegal, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told

the Russian TASS state news agency in remarks published on

Wednesday.

"They are illegal and worsen the situation of those who

impose them, as well as their own consumers, when it comes to

prices for energy resources," TASS cited Novak as saying.
