European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Kick Off Week Higher in Monday Trading

11:04 AM EDT, 03/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts opened the week trending higher late Monday morning, rising 0.62% to 1,375.76 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and financial services company Banco Santander (SAN), which rose 3.1% and 2.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) and petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) , which increased 1.8% and 1.6%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Biophytis ( BPTS ) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which dropped 7.9% and 4.4%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which lost 3.3% and 2.8%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which advanced 4.9% and 3.3%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) , which rose 2.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical company Avadel Pharmaceuticals ( AVDL ) and biopharmaceutical company TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which fell 4% and 2.6%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and NuCana ( NCNA ) , which were down 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively.
