European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Higher in Friday Trading, End Week Up 3.4%

11:09 AM EDT, 04/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending higher Friday morning, rising 0.5% to 1,380.32 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index. With the gain, the index is set to close out the week 3.4% higher.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which rose 3.4% and 2.7%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) , which were up 2.1% and 2%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which fell 5.6% and 4.6%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which dropped 3.9% and 2%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which soared 82%. Biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) rose 3.6% and 2.6%, respectively, while biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) was up 2.3%.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which lost 2.3% and 1.4%, respectively. They were followed by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which were down 1.2% and 1.1% respectively.
