European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Modestly Lower in Wednesday Trading

11:39 AM EDT, 05/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending modestly lower Wednesday morning, declining 0.36% to 1,359.56 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) , which rose 2.2% and 5.2% respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which increased 2.4% and 2.3% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) , which dropped 2.1% each. They were by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which fell 1.5%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which 3.5% respectively. They were followed by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which were up 3.2% and 2.8% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Amarin ( AMRN ) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which lost 11% and 7.3% respectively. They were followed by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) , which were down 3.5% and 1.5% respectively.
