10:55 AM EDT, 07/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Medicines Agency said Friday its safety committee is lifting the temporary restriction on Valneva's (VALN) chikungunya vaccine, Ixchiq, in people aged at least 65.

The temporary restriction was put in place during the committee's review of the vaccine following reported serious side effects, the EMA said.

The safety committee concluded regardless of age, people should only be vaccinated when there's a significant chikungunya infection risk and after careful evaluation of the benefits and risks.

Valneva told MT Newswires it will publish a press release on the matter as soon as the Euronext market closes.
