08:27 AM EDT, 07/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust ( SPY ) was up 0.2% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.3% higher in Friday's premarket activity, as computer systems across the world begin to recover from a tech outage that affected multiple services including banks and airports.
US stock futures were mixed, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slipping 0.2%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.1% before the start of regular trading.
New York Federal Reserve President John Williams is slated to speak at 10:40 am ET.
The Baker Hughes domestic oil-and-gas rig count will be released at 1 pm ET.
Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic speaks at 1 pm ET.
In premarket action, bitcoin was up by 0.7% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF ( BITO ) was 0.9% higher.

Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLV ) advanced 0.4%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund ( VHT ) was up 0.2% while the iShares US Healthcare ETF ( IYH ) was inactive. The iShares Biotechnology ETF ( IBB ) was inactive.
Augmedix ( AUGX ) shares rose more than 148% premarket after the company said it has agreed to be acquired by Commure in an all-cash deal valued at about $139 million.

Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) retreated 0.1%, and the iShares US Technology ETF ( IYW ) was 0.3% higher, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF ( IGM ) was marginally higher at 0.03%. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF ( SOXX ) rose by 0.5%.
CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) shares were down nearly 11% in recent Friday premarket activity after the cybersecurity outfit reported a snag with its Falcon Sensor software, impacting businesses globally.

The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) was up 0.3%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) was inactive. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF ( IYK ) was inactive, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) lost 0.4%. The VanEck Retail ETF ( RTH ) was inactive, while the SPDR S&P Retail ETF ( XRT ) was flat.
Autoliv ( ALV ) stock traded down nearly 8% pre-bell after the company reported lower Q2 financial results.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil lost 0.4% to $82.51 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas fell 2.1% to $2.08 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund ( USO ) gained 0.3%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 1.3% lower.
Gold futures for August were down 1.7% to $2,414.40 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures fell 2.8% to $29.37 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares ( GLD ) retreated 1.2%, and iShares Silver Trust ( SLV ) was 2.2% lower.
