HOUSTON (Reuters) -U.S. oil producer ConocoPhillips ( COP ) will begin layoffs at its Canadian operations in the first week of November, according to a memo seen by Reuters on Thursday.
Employees in Calgary will be notified on November 5 virtually, and those in Surmont and Montney will be told in person on the following day, three sources told Reuters, citing the memo.
ConocoPhillips ( COP ) employs 950 people in Canada, according to the company's website.
"We will not be sharing area-specific workforce numbers for current or impacted employees and contractors," ConocoPhillips ( COP ) spokesperson Dennis Nuss said in an email.
