Exelon's ComEd Unit Gets Approval for $168 Million Plan to Support EV Adoption in Illinois
May 29, 2025 10:53 AM

01:31 PM EDT, 05/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Exelon's ( EXC ) ComEd unit said Thursday the Illinois Commerce Commission has approved its second beneficial electrification plan, which will invest about $168 million over three years starting in 2026.

The new plan builds on ComEd's first beneficial electrification plan, which invested $231 million from 2023 to 2025. The second phase, dubbed BE Plan 2, will help both residential and business customers make the switch to electric vehicles, the company said.

Key parts of the plan include a business and public sector EV purchase program offering rebates for the purchase or lease of EVs, and a business and public sector make-ready program with rebates aimed at creating public and private fast charging sites.

More than 50% of the total budget will be directed to low-income communities and Equity Investment Eligible Communities, and projects in these areas may receive higher rebate amounts, the company added.
