Exxon Mobil Brand Sued by Australia Regulator Over Allegedly Misleading Statements About Fuel
Dec 17, 2024 2:39 AM

05:10 AM EST, 12/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Exxon Mobil's ( XOM ) Australian brand affiliate is facing legal proceedings initiated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission over allegations of false or misleading statements about fuel sold at six Mobil stations in Queensland, the regulator said Tuesday.

The watchdog alleges that between August 2020 and July 2024, Mobil falsely advertised that higher quality "Mobil Synergy" fuel was being sold at the sites "when Mobil did not in fact supply Mobil Synergy fuel to these sites."

The regulator said it is seeking penalties, declarations, costs and other remedies.

Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
