FAA Chief Met With Newly Appointed Boeing CEO in August
Sep 24, 2024 1:20 PM

11:34 AM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Michael Whitaker, the head of the Federal Aviation Administration, said he met in August with Kelly Ortberg, the newly appointed Boeing ( BA ) chief executive officer, to reemphasize expectations that the changes made to enhance the company's safety culture and production quality must be sustained over the long term.

"The safety and integrity of our air transportation system rely heavily on having a culture where people come forward with their safety concerns without fear of reprisal, and they have confidence in the process to know that their report will be investigated thoroughly," Whitaker said Tuesday in prepared remarks before a hearing of the US House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation

"Boeing ( BA ) must maintain its own robust safety reporting programs and promote a safe and proactive reporting culture within its organizations," Whitaker said in a statement released by the FAA.

Boeing ( BA ) didn't immediately reply to a request for comment.
