04:58 AM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Federal Aviation Administration is not asking for any immediate action following a review of two 2023 incidents in which bird strikes on Southwest Airlines' ( LUV ) Boeing ( BA ) 737 MAX passenger jet engines led to smoke entering the planes, media outlets reported Tuesday.
"The FAA will follow its standard rule-making process," the safety agency said in a statement cited by the Seattle Times. The FAA said the risk "does not warrant immediate action" with Boeing ( BA ) already having issued instructions to pilots about such incidents, according to the report.
But the FAA said it will continue to assess how such incidents could impact other engines with similar designs, Reuters reported.
The FAA, Southwest Airlines ( LUV ), and Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
