FAA's Proposed $3.1 Million Fine Against Boeing is Inadequate, US Senator Says
Sep 24, 2025 8:51 AM

11:38 AM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Federal Aviation Administration's proposed fine of $3.1 million against Boeing ( BA ) for safety lapses is inadequate, US Senator Richard Blumenthal stated in a Tuesday letter to the agency.

"For Boeing ( BA ), such fines are easily absorbed as the cost of doing business, not a meaningful deterrent to dangerous behavior," according to the letter.

The Senator said that if there was discretion in calculating penalties or if reductions are likely to follow, then the FAA "risks sending the message that systemic safety violations carry no serious consequences."

He sought all correspondence between the agency and Boeing ( BA ) relating to the fine, as well as written responses detailing all violations that were penalized and any ongoing investigations into Boeing ( BA ) safety violations, according to the letter.

Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
