Fairfax Raises US$900 Million Through Senior Notes Offering

05:20 PM EDT, 05/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fairfax Financial Holdings ( FRFHF ) after trade on Tuesday said it completed its previously announced private debt offering, raising a total US$900 million.

The offer included US$500 million in 5.750% senior notes due in 2035 and US$400 million in 6.500% senior notes due in 2055, the company added.

Fairfax plans to use the proceeds raised to refinance or repay existing debt or other corporate obligations, potentially invest in acquisitions, including buying minority stakes in its subsidiaries, and for general corporate purposes, the company said.

The notes were sold through a private placement to qualified institutional investors in the U.S. As part of the offering, Fairfax entered into a standard registration rights agreement related to the notes, according to the statement.
