Federal Judge Schedules Sept. 22 Court Date to Hear Potential Google Monopoly Remedies
May 26, 2025 12:41 AM

04:40 PM EDT, 05/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unit is slated to return in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, on Sept. 22 after the presiding judge on Friday set the schedule for the remedies phase in the US government's anti-trust case against the search engine and advertising company.

US District Judge Leonie Brinkema set the trial date after last month ruling Google ( GOOG ) acted anticompetitively by willfully keeping would-be competitors from developing rival internet search engines as advertising vehicles.

The sides are next scheduled to present their recommended remedies on Monday, which could see the US Department of Justice requiring Alphabet to sell off its Chrome browser. The government and Google ( GOOG ) would then have two more weeks to file their initial response to those proposals.
