09:17 AM EST, 01/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- FedEx ( FDX ) said Tuesday it has appointed Scott Ray as chief operating officer for US and Canada surface operations, effective June 1.

As the newest member of the FedEx ( FDX ) Executive Committee, Ray will succeed John Smith, who will become FedEx Freight's chief executive, the company said.

Ray, who will transition to the COO-elect role on Feb. 1, has been the president of surface operations since 2024, FedEx ( FDX ) said, adding that the company has no plans to appoint a new president of surface operations.
