June 5 (Reuters) - Grain trader and processor
Archer-Daniels-Midland ( ADM ) said that a fire broke out in one
of its plants in Iowa on Wednesday that was contained by
firefighters.
The fire was detected in the morning at around 10.15 a.m. ET
by its employees during the demolition of a mill scrubber
located near its corn processing complex in Clinton, ADM
spokesperson Dane Lisser said.
The fire originated from materials inside the mill scrubber
and ADM officials promptly notified the fire department for
assistance and evacuated employees as a precaution, the company
said.
Later the fire was contained and no one was injured, ADM
said, adding that it was currently assessing the damage and
investigating the cause.
The facility, one of the three ADM locations with corn wet
mills, has the capability to produce several different
industrial products like ethanol as well as food and feed
ingredients.
