05:41 AM EST, 02/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- FirstEnergy's ( FE ) FirstEnergy Transmission is working with Transource Energy to develop a 300-mile extra-high-voltage transmission project in central Ohio, regional grid operator PJM Interconnection said Monday.
The development came after PJM approved the project to meet surging electricity demand from data centers, manufacturing and electric vehicles.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The companies will deliver the project via a new partnership, Grid Growth Ventures LLC.
The plan calls for roughly 300 miles of 765-kilovolt transmission lines and upgrades to several substations in the Columbus region.
Transource Energy is a partnership between American Electric Power ( AEP ) and Evergy ( EVRG ).
