05:43 AM EDT, 07/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fluor (FLR) said Monday it received final notice to proceed from Barrick Mining for the Reko Diq copper-gold project in Balochistan, Pakistan.
The company was selected as the lead engineering, procurement, and construction management partner in April and recognized its share of the undisclosed contract in Q2, it said.
The project is expected to create jobs, drive economic growth in Balochistan, and support long-term regional development programs, Fluor said.
Barrick said the Reko Diq mine will operate as a large truck-and-shovel open pit with multiple pits, processing facilities, and supporting transport infrastructure, targeting first production in 2028.
Fluor added that the site will eventually reach a total throughput of 90 million tonnes per year and has a projected life of over 40 years.
