Ford February US Sales Slide 8.9%, EV Sales Jump 15%: Details
Mar 3, 2025 8:14 AM

Shares of Ford Motor Co. ( F ) are trading higher on Monday after the sales results for the month of February.

The automobile giant witnessed electric vehicle sales increase of 15% in the U.S. in February despite a drop in sales of its E-Series van and F-150 Lightning truck (electric).

Ford sold 7,326 electric vehicles in February as compared to the 6,368 sold in the corresponding period of last year, the company said on Monday.

The rise in sales was due to the surge in sales of the company’s Memo: E-Transit. Ford sold 1,815 units of the van in February as compared to just 860 in February 2024.

The increase was also helped by Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. Ford sold 3,312 units of the SUV in February as compared to 2,930 in February 2024.

The Memo: F-150 Lightning (electric), meanwhile, witnessed a 14.7% drop in sales to 2,199 units while the E-Series witnessed an 16.2% slump to 2,968 units.

Ford’s electric vehicle sales so far in 2025 have seen a 17.7% improvement from last year.

Ford’s overall deliveries across propulsion types fell 8.9% to 158,675 units, following a 12.7% plunge in internal combustion engine vehicle sales.

Hybrid vehicle sales jumped 27.5% year-over-year to 15,357 units.

Recently, automakers have been facing significant uncertainty after President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada.

Ford CEO Jim Farley also discussed the potential impact of proposed tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, warning that if the issue drags on, it could erase billions of dollars in profits for U.S. automakers.

However, over 80% of Ford’s vehicles are made in the U.S., and over half of the company’s engines, more than many of its rivals, Farley said.

Price Action: F shares are trading higher by 1.94% at $9.735 at last check Monday.
