05:14 AM EDT, 04/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) is recalling about 1.39 million F-150 vehicles in the US amid concerns of unexpected downshifts, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday.
The recall covers certain 2015-2017 vehicles, the regulator said.
A loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module may cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, potentially leading to a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA.
The powertrain control module software will be updated by dealers without any charges, the NHTSA said.
