Ford Motor Seatbelt Complaints Investigated by NHTSA
Nov 19, 2024 8:54 PM

08:47 AM EST, 11/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) is under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding complaints about inadvertent deployment of the seat belt retractor pretensioner in model year 2019-2020 Ford Expedition SUVs, the regulator said.

The NHTSA said the complaints allege hearing a loud sound immediately followed by the seat belt rapidly tightening. It said the complaints do not allege the potential defects have caused a crash, and that the seat belt remains locked after it deploys.

Ford did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
