06:52 AM EDT, 09/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) said Friday it has submitted a letter of intent to Tamil Nadu's government in India to utilize the firm's Chennai production facility for manufacturing for export.

"The decision follows multiple meetings with the Tamil Nadu Government, including one I had last week with the Honorable Chief Minister of the Government of Tamil Nadu as part of his visit to the United States," said Kay Hart, Ford's president of international markets group.

The automaker will roll out additional details later, Hart added in her LinkedIn post.

The Tamil Nadu government did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
