06:32 AM EDT, 07/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) will recall 694,271 vehicles in the US due to a fuel leak issue that could increase the risk of a fire, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday.

A fuel injector may crack, resulting in fuel or vapor migrating to and accumulating near ignition sources, resulting in potential underhood fire, the auto safety regulator said.

Ford will recall certain 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, 2020-2022 Escape and other models. The NHTSA estimates that 0.3% of the recalled vehicles have the defect.

The NHTSA said a remedy is currently under development, and that dealers will update the engine control software, free of charge, as an interim repair.
