Ford Recalls 552,188 Vehicles Over Gear Shift Issue, NHTSA Says
Jun 25, 2024 4:30 AM

07:09 AM EDT, 06/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) is recalling 552,188 of its 2014 F-150 vehicles in the US due to a sensor issue that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly downshift to first gear, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Some of the vehicles may experience a loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module, which can cause a downshift regardless of driving speed, the regulator said, adding that this could lead to a loss of vehicle control.

Dealers will update the vehicles' powertrain control module software, free of charge, as a remedy, according to the NHTSA.
