Ford To Recall Over Half A Million 2014 F-150s For Transmission Issue - What's Going On?
Jun 25, 2024 6:31 AM

Ford Motor Company ( F ) plans to recall 552,188 of its 2014 F-150 vehicles in the U.S.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that this recall is due to a potential issue causing the vehicle an “unexpected transmission” downshift into first gear.

According to the regulator, a loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause a downshift, potentially leading to a loss of vehicle control, irrespective of vehicle speed.

“Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, free of charge,” according to a statement.

In April, Ford recalled around 456,565 units of certain compact SUVs and pickup trucks in the U.S. due to a low battery issue causing loss of drive power.

In the same month, Ford recalled 42,652 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles in the U.S. due to broken fuel injectors that may leak and induce a fire.

Earlier in January, the auto behemoth made it to the headlines for recalling 2.24 million older Explorer sport utility vehicles worldwide because trim retention clips may not be correctly engaged.
