12:59 PM EST, 03/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) on Monday reported a year-over-year drop in US February sales amid weakness in the internal combustion component, though hybrid sales grew sharply.
Total US sales fell 8.9% last month to 158,675 vehicles, driven by a 24% decline in sport utility vehicles to 64,148. Car sales fell about 32% to 2,792, while trucks rose 7.7% to 91,735.
Sales of internal combustion engine vehicles decreased nearly 13% to 135,992, while hybrids rose 27.5% to 15,357. Electric vehicle sales advanced 15%.
In the same period of 2024, internal combustion sales were up 7.5% year-over-year, while hybrid and electric sales rose 31.5% and nearly 81%, respectively.
Shares of Ford rose 1.2% in midday trade.
The automaker's F-Series truck sales gained about 14%, while the F-150 Lightning electric truck dropped by nearly 15%. Transit van sales were up 3.5% while the e-Transit more than doubled.
Within Ford SUVs, sales of the Explorer tumbled about 23% to 15,071. The Bronco Sport declined 6.3% while gains were notched across the Escape, Bronco and Mustang Mach-E.
