The engineering analysis, opened on Jan. 17, will include further vehicle evaluations, technical reviews, and crash data analysis to identify safety concerns and potential system shortcomings, the NHTSA said.
The regulator said it is expanding its investigation, which started in April 2024, following additional reports of incidents involving vehicles failing to detect stationary objects.
The investigation involves Ford Mach-E models from between 2021 and 2024 which are equipped with Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0, according to the notification.
Ford did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
