10:57 AM EDT, 08/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Fortive's ( FTV ) Advanced Sterilization Products unit said Monday that its new sterilization cycle for duodenoscopes has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration.

The Ultra GI Cycle, developed in partnership with HOYA's Pentax Medical division, reprocesses duodenoscopes using hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization, the company said.

Duodenoscopes have been under scrutiny due to their relatively high contamination rates, prompting the need for a robust sterilization solution, the company said.
