07:07 AM EST, 02/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fortuna Mining ( FSM ) on Tuesday said an employee of one of its contractors died at the Seguela Mine in Cote d'Ivoire.

"The accident took place at the contractor's light vehicle maintenance workshop where an explosion took place while handling a fire extinguisher," the company said in a statement.

The employee was brought to the Seguela City Hospital where he passed away from his injuries, the company said, adding that no other people were injured in the incident. An investigation has begun to determine the cause of the accident, the company said.
