10:43 AM EDT, 10/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Freeport-McMoRan ( FCX ) said Tuesday it is in talks with Indonesia's government to extend licenses to export copper concentrate after a fire damaged its smelter operations in the country.
Freeport said that in July its local unit PT Freeport Indonesia obtained copper concentrate and anode slimes export licenses that are valid through December.
In relation to a recent fire that disrupted PT Freeport Indonesia's new smelter facility, the unit "is working with the Indonesia government to allow continuity of copper concentrate exports until smelter operations are restored," the company said in its Q3 earnings report.
Freeport shares were rising 2.3% in recent trading.
