08:42 AM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Freeport-McMoRan ( FCX ) said Wednesday it was able to locate two personnel, who were fatally injured, of the seven missing PT Freeport Indonesia contractors trapped in its Grasberg Block Cave underground mine in Indonesia, following a Sept. 8 mud flow incident.
Teams continue to work around the clock and "making steady progress" clearing mud and debris to reach the areas where the personnel were working at the time of the incident, the company said.
Mining operations continue to be suspended in order to prioritize the search, Freeport said.
Freeport said it started a probe, which includes working with external experts, to identify the cause of the incident, with expected completion by the end of the year.
Further, for Q3, the company said its consolidated sales are expected to be around 4% lower for copper and approximately 6% lower for gold, compared with July estimates.
