05:29 AM EDT, 10/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Freeport-McMoRan ( FCX ) said Sunday that the five remaining missing team members from the Sept. 8 mud rush incident at its Grasberg Block Cave mine in Indonesia were found deceased.
The company said its PT Freeport Indonesia unit has temporarily suspended mining operations at the Grasberg minerals district since Sept. 8 to facilitate the search and two other team members were found deceased on Sept. 20.
Freeport said its Indonesian unit is conducting an investigation to identify what caused the mud rush and expects to complete the probe by year-end. The unit is also working with local authorities on reviewing the incident and future operating plans, Freeport added.
