12:12 PM EDT, 03/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Freshpet ( FRPT ) shares fell by more than 8% in Tuesday trading after the National Advertising Division of BBB National Programs advised the company to cease advertisements suggesting that its dog food is "human grade."

The decision stemmed from a challenge from Farmer's Dog, a Freshpet ( FRPT ) competitor, which argued that three video advertisements included various statements and images that implied that Freshpet's ( FRPT ) dog food was human grade.

Freshpet ( FRPT ) said it will comply with the recommendations, the organization said.

Freshpet ( FRPT ) and Farmer's Dog did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comments.
