Pakyong Airport in Sikkim is located around 60 kms from the Indo-China border. Spread across 201 acres, the airport is located on the top of a hill about 2 kms above Pakyong village at 4,500 feet above sea level in inhospitable terrain. The airport is an engineering marvel.

Tenzing–Hillary Airport, also known as Lukla Airport, is located in Nepal and is regarded by many as the most dangerous airport on the planet. Located on the top of a hill in Lukla, it is generally used by mountaineers as a base camp for their ascent to Mount Everest.

Barra in Scotland is the sole airport on the planet that uses a beach as its runway.

Courchevel Altiport, located in the French Alps, astounds visitors by both its beauty and seeming danger. The airport, located close to a ski resort, has a very short runway and is used by small aircraft and helicopters.

Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal may be more famous for being named after the football superstar Ronaldo, but it is also an architectural marvel. It is considered among the most peculiarly perilous airports on the planet owing to its location and its runway construction.

Gibraltar International Airport, located in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, has a unique feature: a rood used by the locals for transport passes right through the middle of the runway.

Agatti Airport, which is located on the southern end of Agatti Island in Lakshadweep, is spread across the entire land strip making it both scenic and dangerous.
