05:34 AM EDT, 09/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Galiano Gold ( GAU ) said it has suspended some operations and is working with local officials in investigating a deadly incident at its Asanko Gold Mine in Ghana on Tuesday.

In a statement Tuesday, the company said a confrontation ensued between community members and military personnel on the company's operating concessions in the Amansie South District.

"Tensions escalated within the local community, leading to civil unrest, including a fatality and damage to contractor equipment," the company said.

The company said operations at one deposit have been temporarily suspended, while operations elsewhere are unaffected.
