GCT Semiconductor Collaborates With Iridium to Integrate NTN Direct Into GCT's Chipset

09:19 AM EDT, 06/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- GCT Semiconductor ( GCTS ) said Wednesday it is collaborating with Iridium Communications ( IRDM ) to integrate the Iridium NTN Direct service into GCT's GDM7243SL chipset.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The parties will develop a new Iridium network-enabled narrowband Internet of Things chipset based on requirements for 3GPP Release 19, GCT said.

The NB-IoT chipset will be developed for 5G Advanced that will merge satellite technologies into 5G, the company added.
