07:36 AM EST, 01/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- GE Aerospace (GE) has joined South Korean authorities' special inspection of all 101 Boeing ( BA ) 737-800 jets flown by the country's airlines following a fatal plane crash there as South Korea's transport ministry extended its probe through Jan. 10, news outlets reported Friday, citing a press briefing.
The probe followed a Sunday crash of a Boeing 737-800 operated by Jeju Air that killed 179 people, according to the reports. News outlets said the inspections were initially planned to conclude on Friday but were extended for additional checks.
According to Reuters, GE Aerospace is part of the CFM International joint venture with Safran that produced the engines of the Boeing ( BA ) that crashed last Sunday.
Boeing ( BA ) and GE Aerospace did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
